Service Opportunities at WPC

Christian Education
Would you like to put Westminster’s mission of “Nurturing the Next Generations for Service” into action? Learning Hour for Children and Youth will be held throughout the fall and winter, with many opportunities to serve. Please consider setting time aside on your calendar to be a part of WPC’s ministry to children. Want to help or have a question? Contact Barbara D’Souza, Christian Ed. Coordinator, at 282-1500 or email

Help Create Our Lenten Devotional Booklet
The members of WPC are invited to participate in creating the Lenten devotional guide for 2012.  The devotional will feature a brief commentary, story or observation based on the Scriptures from the daily lectionary. Look for the sign up table in the Activity Center on January 8, 15 and 22. At the table, you will find a listing of the dates and Scriptures available along with instructions for the length and format for the booklet. You may also write a brief prayer and a challenge for the day to accompany your meditation.

The devotional will begin with Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, and continue through Easter Sunday, April 8th. The Sunday entries will be provided by the pastoral staff.

The devotionals will be available at no charge at the church. For questions and more information, call Gretchen Hammeke at the church (ext 12) or email her at email.

OTHER WAYS TO SERVE:
Would you like to be an Usher? One Sunday each month at the service of your choice, you will hand out the bulletin, greet and seat parishioners. Please contact Bruce Fisher (815)877-4864 for details.

Perhaps being a Greeter is more your style. One Sunday each month at the service of your choice, you arrive approximately twenty minutes prior to the service and welcome visitors and members at one of the entrance doors. Please contact Terry Green (815)332-4691 for more details and assignments.

Donations Needed! It’s time to refurbish our 2&3 year old room with some new dress-up clothes. Donations of gently used Halloween costumes (nothing scary or with masks), dress-up clothes, hats and flower girl dresses are appreciated. Please drop your donations to Barbara D’Souza in the church office.

Westminster Preschool! Thank you to those who have donated supplies to start our school year! We are still in need of disinfecting wipes, kleenex, and Elmers glue in both bottles and glue sticks.

The Food Pantry is always in need of our help. Westminster has kindly and consistently provided much needed food, plastic bags, and paper bags for this cause. Barrels for this purpose are located near each entrance. Thank you for your continued support of this cause.
