Coming to Westminster: What You Do Best in the Body of Christ

Now more than ever we seek clarity in our lives: what am I to be about with my time, my life? How should I engage with the world that surrounds me? You were challenged a couple weeks ago in the context of worship to be clear about your purpose. However, it is possible to hear a sermon challenge without understanding how to make it happen. I am excited to announce that, in 2010, all members of Westminster will have the opportunity to make it happen! We will be offering a course to help you identify your spiritual gifts, personal style, and God-given passion.

A developer of the course material writes the following:
"Churches have been wanting the priesthood of all believers to be evident in their congregations, but that has been more teaching than action. One question bringing the church together is: “How do we get the right people in the right places for the right reasons?”

What You Do Best presents the vision and values for a ministry to do just that! Its approach is different because it starts with a personalized process built on the belief that each individual is unique, with different spiritual gifts, personal styles, and ministry passions. When using your spiritual gifts, you will serve more competently. When serving in ways that are consistent with your personal style, you will serve with greater freedom. When you are serving in your area of ministry passion, you will serve more enthusiastically.

You are needed in the church—not because there are slots to fill, but because in and through your ministry, God’s grace is released and his purposes are fulfilled.

Are you interested in finding that right place for you to use your gifts? Various sessions of What You Do Best will be offered at Westminster during this calendar year. The first one will be held during Learning Hour, starting February 14 through March 14. There will also be an opportunity to attend a one-day seminar on Saturday, March 20. Throughout the year, additional six-session options and one-day seminars will be offered.
